Badminton 101
Badminton is a fast-paced racquet sport that has simple rules. The BWF is the world governing body that sets the laws and regulations for standard competitions.
The object is to win two of three games of 21 points. If the score is tied at 20-all, the first side to have a two-point lead wins the game. If it is still equal at 29-all, the first team or player to score the 30th point is the victor.
Every match starts with the serve. Once the shuttlecock is in play, it is called a rally. Whoever wins the rally gets a point.
To score, one must not be able to let their opponent successfully return the shuttlecock; their hit should cross over the net and the bird should not land out of bounds.
A typical badminton match requires racquets for two or four players, as well as a shuttlecock and a net. The court dimensions differ in singles and doubles.
