EUROPE, DENMARK READY FOR 2026 THOMAS & UBER CUP HOSTING
Europe is ready for the 2026 Thomas & Uber Cup after the Danish city of Horsen was chosen.
Badminton Europe president Sven Serre cited Denmark’s rich “passionate fan base” in badminton that augurs well for the Thomas & Uber Cup in two years.
“Denmark is a leading badminton nation with a passionate fan base, and we expect fantastic support from the audience,” Serre said.
The badminton official cited Denmark’s “solid experience” in staging major championships as a basis for picking the European nation as a deserving host.
He noted the 2023 World Championships in Copenhagen as proof of Denmark’s capability to stage major world sports competitions.
“We are confident that this will be an enormously successful event,” Serre said.
BWF CONFIDENT HORSENS WILL STAGE SUCCESSFUL THOMAS & UBER CUP
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) trusts Horsens to stage the 2026 Thomas & Uber Cup.
BWF President Poul-Erik Hoyer praised Horsens for its “cultural and entertainment events.”
“We are excited to be bringing the prestigious BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2026 to the badminton-loving local community,” he said.
The BWF official lauded Badminton Denmark’s tradition of staging world-class badminton championships in the past.
“We have full confidence that they, along with the City of Horsens will deliver a tournament to remember,” Hoyer said.
Badminton Europe expects World No.1 Viktor Axelsen to lead Denmark’s charge as the hosts.
INDIA TO HOST WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025
Meanwhile, India will host the BWF World Junior Championships in 2025.
The BWF Major Championship will be held in the Indian city of Guwahati.
Hoyer praised India’s production line of elite badminton talent as “booming.”
“It is of great significance for the BWF to bring our World Juniors to India for the second time,” the BWF official said.
The Badminton Association of India (BAI) will host the tournament’s team and individual events.
Hoyer cited the BAI’s National Centre of Excellence as the “perfect arena” for staging the junior championships.
