An Se-young

At the age of 20, BWF women’s singles world number four An Se-young is the youngest in the top five.

She began her international badminton career in 2017, where she was a member of the South Korean squad that took home the mixed team title at the Asian Juniors and bronze at the World Juniors.

As a singles player, An has won a combined nine women’s singles titles at the World Tour and the International Series. This includes a personal best of five first-place finishes in 2019 that catapulted her into the top ten.

In team tournaments, the Gwangju native has a bronze and a silver at the Asian Team Championships. She has an unbeaten record in Uber Cup ties, yet she can only muster two bronze medals.

An recorded a trifecta of tournament victories in Indonesia two years later, including the season-ending World Tour Finals, where she defeated India’s PV Sindhu for the crown.
