Axelsen still leads BWF men’s rankings; An Se-young tops women

AXELSEN WAY AHEAD OVER CHINA’S SHI YUQI AMONG MEN

Axelsen kept his stranglehold in the men’s division with 98,715 points to lead Shi Yuqi (90,984) by more than 8,000 points.

The 30-year-old Danish shuttler, who first took the No.1 spot on September 28, 2017, reached the semifinals of the Malaysia Open.

It was Axelsen’s best finish so far this year.

Shi also has an impressive lead over No.3 Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (85,101) of Indonesia.

Another Danish shuttler, Anders Antonsen (83,594), is at No.4 followed by Indonesian Jonatan Christie (81,531).

AN SE-YOUNG HAS BIG LEAD OVER CHEN YUFEI

Se-young (112,314) also has a sizable advantage over No.2 Chen Yufei (100,796) of China.

Tai Tzu-Ying of Chinese Taipei (97,306) is third, followed by Japan’s Yamaguchi Akane (95,317) and Spaniard Carolina Marin (91.099).

The comebacking PV Sindhu of India (63,022) is at No.12 but remains within striking distance of No.10 Beiwen Zhang (67,506) of the United States.

Reigning Spain Masters champion Ratchanok Intanon (63,073) of Thailand, meanwhile, is at No.11.
