Indonesia with big names in Sudirman Finals 2023
Badminton powerhouse Indonesia show that they are not messing around at the TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup Finals 2023.
Apart from Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo – aka Minions, Indonesia also have All England champions Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Thailand Masters winners Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin in the star-studded squad.
Minions have not been seen on the circuit since January, with the last time they played was at the 2023 Indonesia Masters.
This is their comeback this year in almost three months and will absolutely boast of strong men’s doubles for Indonesia, who only won the tournament once in the past, and it was all the way back to 1989.
Other teams big names
Japan’s men’s singles will be led by Kodai Naraoka, who has risen to his career-best ranking of No.5, while Kento Momota missed out in the squad.
The 21-year-old talent Naraoka is the highest-ranked of three men’s singles in the squad, with Kenta Nishimoto and Kanta Tsuneyama are the rest of the top three.
Meanwhile, China, the host of this year tournament, is the current champion and also the record holders of 12 victories in its history, also have a powerful line-up.
Li Shi Feng and Shi Yu Qi, will be ones to beat at Men’s singles. Chen Yu Fei, who is Olympic Champion, is women’s singles contender, besides they also have He Bing Jiao and Wang Zhi Yi.
Viktor Axelsen, Anders Antonsen are expected to go very far in this tournament.
