Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai Player Profile
Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai of Thailand are the current BWF world number one in mixed doubles. They dislodged Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong from the top spot before the year 2021 ended, halting the Chinese duo’s run at 130 consecutive weeks of being ranked first.
Aside from being the first Thai players to reach rank number one, their other claims to fame are that they are the first Thai couple to win the BWF World Championships, which they did in 2021, and the first Thai pair to win a title in the yearend Finals tournaments.
Bass and Popor reached their first-ever finals at the 2017 Singapore Open and have never looked back. They also reached the quarterfinals of the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Puavaranukroh, despite having previously ranked in men’s doubles, and Taerattanachai, even if she is a versatile shuttler who has competed in singles and women’s doubles, is not part of the host country’s squads for the TotalEnergies BWF Thomas and Uber Cup Finals 2022.
