Hoki Takurō and Kobayashi Yūgo player profile
Hoki Takurō and Kobayashi Yūgo of Japan are presently the fourth-ranked pair in the BWF men’s doubles rankings.
The duo has reached the BWF World Championships men’s doubles final twice. They won it all in the 2021 edition, beating China’s He Jiting and Tan Qiang for the crown.
Hoki and Kobayashi are also the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals men’s doubles champs, defeating current number one Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo of Indonesia. This was also the outcome at the 2021 Indonesia Masters, the 26-year-olds frustrating Gideon and Sukamuljo in their home competition.
Their first-ever top-place finish was at the 2014 USA International. Their two other major titles are the 2016 Spanish International and the 2021 Denmark Open.
The farthest the tandem has reached the Thomas Cup is the semifinal, doing so in the 2020 edition. They are hoping to go much farther this May in Thailand.
