JUN HAO TO SEEK ZII JIA ADVICE AGAINST HK’S NG KA LONG

Jun Hao is willing to learn a thing or two from Zii Jia as Malaysia’s No.2 singles player faces Hong Kong veteran Ng Ka Long.

The world No.37 will ask both Zii Jia and Malaysia’s coaching staff to better devise a strategy against Ka Long.

“I haven’t had the chance to discuss this with Zii Jia yet, but when he joins the team later, I will definitely ask him for advise,” Jun Hao said.

“I will also discuss with the coach and analyze Ka Long’s playing style. I will make the best preparations,” he added.

Zii Jia has a separate training program under coach Wong Tat Meng.

But the world No.18 is expected to join his teammates in Chengdu, China, before Saturday.

JUN HAO PRAISES ‘BALANCED’ MALAYSIA’S THOMAS CUP LINEUP

Jun Hao described Malaysia’s current Thomas Cup lineup as “balanced,” saying that the team can repeat the country’s 1992 conquest.

“This team is more balanced because we have several players who have played in previous Thomas Cups,” Jun Hao said.

“We have the experience, we just need to give our best performance in each match,” he added.

Singles players Cheam June Wei and Justin Hoh, as well as doubles pairs Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin, Muhammad Haikal, and Choong Hon Jian comprise Malaysia’s squad.

MALAYSIA SQUAD IN ‘GOOD MOOD’ FOR THOMAS CUP, SAYS REXY

Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) coaching director Rexy Mainaky, meanwhile, cited the Malaysian squad in a “good mood” a few days before their Thomas Cup opening tie.

“As I mentioned before the mood is good, and if we look at it, everything is positive,” Rexy said.

“All the players have undergone training together and even bonded over activities like having breakfast together,” he added.

The BAM official urged all players to “forget all the challenges we faced” and just focus on Hong Kong.
