LIN OUTLASTS CHOU AFTER SAVING 4 MATCH POINTS
Lin Chun-Yi of Chinese Taipei bucked a slow start before outlasting compatriot Chou Tien Chen, 7-21, 22-20, 23-21.
Lin saved four match points after losing the first set before surviving Chou’s late comeback in the men’s final.
“I’m very happy. I just tried not to give up after losing the first game,” Lin said after the match on Sunday.
The world No.22 also needed three sets to oust Kidambi Srikanth of India, 15-21, 21-9, 21-18, in the semifinals.
MARIN ADDS SWISS OPEN TO ALL ENGLAND TITLE
Marin was also dragged to the full route before defeating Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia, 21-19 13-21, 22-20, for the women’s singles title.
The Spanish shuttler saved two match points in the final set to outduel Greogira and claim her second straight women’s singles title.
“I fought until the end even when the game was a bit tough. It was important to keep fighting and I gave my best on the court,” Marin said.
ENGLISH, INDONESIAN, MALAYSIAN PAIRS WIN DOUBLES TITLES
English duo Ben Lane and Sean Vendy held off Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maualana, 24-22, 28-26, for the men’s doubles title.
Lanny Tria Mayasari and Ribka Sugiarto of Indonesia pulled off a 13-21, 21-16, 21-8 win over Hsu Ya Ching and Lin Wan Ching in the women’s doubles final.
In the mixed doubles final, Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai beat Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei, 21-16, 21-13, in an all-Malaysian showdown.
