Player Profile: He Bingjiao (CHN)

World number 9 He Bingjiao might be behind her Chinese teammate and current world number 3 (and reigning Olympic champion) Chen Yufei, but the best is yet to come for the Jiangsu native.

Achievements of the Chinese badminton player, He Bingjiao

The 25-year-old’s individual achievements in both the junior and senior are few and far between. Apart from her 2014 Youth Olympic gold in Nanjing, the lefty only won ten career titles on the senior tour.

To add to that, she reached the World Championship semi-finals twice (including a 2018 heartbreaker to eventual champion Carolina Marin), and finished runner-up to Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi in the 2019 Asian Championships.

Despite those, she managed to have winning records over Chen, and former Olympic champion Li Xuerui in head-to-head matchups and peaked at sixth in the BWF World Rankings.

She had a better record in team badminton, where she had been an integral part of Team China’s extending success in 2021. Apart from the Sudirman Cup triumph having won her lone match, she went unbeaten in their triumphant retaking of the Uber Cup as she swept all her six rubbers.
