HS PRANNOY OUSTED BY CHINESE-TAIPEI FOE

Prannoy was ousted by Lin Chun-Yi of Chinese Taipei, 18-21,11-21, in a BAC match that lasted for 43 minutes.

The world No.9 fell short in the opening set, which saw the unseeded Chun-Yi break a 15-all tie with three straight points.

Prannoy raced to a 4-1 lead in the second set hoping to extend the match.

But Chun-Yi pressed the attack after that.

He scored six consecutive points to break loose from a 15-11 edge en route to the win.

SINDHU GOES DOWN AGAINST HAN YUE IN THREE SETS

Sindhu fell short to No.6 seed Han Yue of China, 18-21, 21-13, 17-21, in a match that lasted one hour and nine minutes.

The double Olympic medallist lost to Yue for the first time in the BAC after taking a 5-0 lead in their head-to-head matches.

Sindhu returned from an opening-set loss with an aggressive fightback to take the second set.

In the decider, the Indian shuttler took an 8-4 lead but fell to a maze of errors that allowed Yue to catch up.

The Chinese player went from a 10-all tie to a 17-10 lead before Sindhu cut it to within 20-17.

Sindhu managed to save two game points but it was not enough as Yue eventually closed the match.

MALAYSIAN DUO AARON, WOOI YIK ADVANCE TO QUARTERFINALS

Aaron and Wooi Yik averted a disaster after a second-set loss by regaining their bearings to close out their Japanese rivals.

The world No.5 pair will next face Liu Yu Chen and Ou Xuan Yi of China.

Meanwhile, Chinese Taipei’s Lee Jhe Huei and Yang Po Hsuan beat Malaysia’s Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun, 21-18, 21-17.
