Road to the 2022 Thomas & Uber Cup
The best men’s and women’s badminton national teams converge in Thailand for the 2022 staging of the TotalEnergies BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2022. The week of May 8-15 promises to be filled with action and drama with the world’s leading shuttlers participating.
Barely a year has passed since Indonesia and China won the World Men’s and Women’s World Championship, respectively, and they are defending them already. They are joined by host Thailand as the first qualifiers.
Included in the men’s team competition are Algeria, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Denmark, England, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea.
Over at the Uber Cup, other competitors are Australia, Chinese Taipei, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, and the United States.
With public events gradually being opened to spectators, having fans back in attendance would vastly improve the atmosphere from the 2020 edition.
It is hard to guarantee which squads would win, but the reigning champs of each tournament would prefer that they retain.
