Thomas Cup 2022: Higher seeds dominate Day 3
The usual suspects came up with key wins to arrange mouth-watering faceoffs going into the final day of the BWF Thomas Cup Finals 2022.
East goes over west on Group D
Japan and Malaysia showed who is boss on Group D by defeating England and USA, respectively.
Japan made a clean sweep of England even if the latter put up some challenge. Momota Kento required 40 minutes to put away Toby Penty, 21-18, 21-11.
The first doubles and second singles matches breached the 50-minute mark as both reached the winner-take-all third game. With matchup settled, the succeeding fixtures did not take long to finish.
Malaysia, meanwhile, took down last minute replacement entry USA, 5-0. The undermanned United States squad fielded a lineup to barely complete three singles and a doubles match, with two shuttlers pulling off double duty every day for the second doubles assignment.
The victors will face off on the final day of the group stage to determine which will lord over their group.
China, Denmark cut down opponents
Over on Group B, both China and Denmark made short work of their other groupmates to set up a much-anticipated clash on the final day of the group stage.
China proved they are a class above Algeria, soundly beating them to a 5-0 thrashing. The Danes did the same against France.
