Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo of Indonesia are the current BWF world number one in men’s doubles. They presently hold the distinction of having the most weeks at number one and the longest streak for consecutive weeks at number one in men’s doubles.

These successful pair are endearingly referred to as “Minions”, their energetic style of play making them resemble their namesake cartoon characters.

Gideon and Sukamuljo were recognized as BWF Best Male Players of the Year two times after amassing seven Superseries championships in 2017 and eight World Tour titles in 2018. In addition, they also took home a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games and were part of the Indonesian contingent at the 2018 Asia Team Championships.

They are slated to defend the Thomas Cup along with their Indonesian teammates in Thailand this May 2022. Being the top-ranked duo in the world, they are expected to perform well in this upcoming tournament.
